Who needs to be listed on my policy?

Anyone listed on the title or loan of the vehicle(s) and all household members 15 and older.

Why does the owner of the car need to be listed on the policy?

Because the owner or co-signer is financially responsible for any accident or damage to persons or property caused by the vehicle. Even if they don’t drive. Or have a license. It doesn’t matter — it’s still on them.

Who should be included as a driver?

Include anyone who will regularly operate your vehicle(s). Any driver listed on your policy is automatically covered, and you should list all the drivers in your household. It’s not just to avoid hurt feelings, although that’s a plus.

Failure to disclose any driver will result in a surcharge of premium or denial of claim. Any driver who lives in your household and will drive your car on a regular basis must be listed on your policy. Drivers who are not residents of your household are covered if they’re driving your vehicle with your permission.

Do I need to include my spouse on my application?

Yes. If you’re married, your spouse must either be listed as a driver or excluded on the application. How you handle an excluded spouse is up to you.

Does the color of my vehicle affect my rates?

Only if it’s hot pink. Just kidding. Car insurance rates are color blind – go ahead and get that kandy-kolored tangerine flake streamline baby you’ve got your eye on.

What is a high-risk driver?

If you’ve had tickets, convictions or accidents for driving under the influence (DUI or DWI) of alcohol, auto insurance companies may think of you as a high-risk driver. What is a deductible and how does it work?

A deductible is the cash you must part with for each claim. The auto insurance carrier picks up whatever your deductible doesn’t cover. Deductible applies only to comprehensive and collision coverage, which means it applies to damage to your vehicle. There is no deductible for damage to another vehicle or for injuries.

Will my quote rates be lower when I renew my policy?

Almost all car insurance companies have renewal discounts available to clients who are “loss free” within a specified period of time. Some give renewal discounts after six months, but most offer them after a year. The amount of the discount varies by auto insurance company, but they all put some extra cash where it will do the most good – in your pocket.

What do I do when I need wheels after an accident?

You call us, of course. Our car rental reimbursement program pays for auto rental expenses up to $25 per day if you can’t drive your car due to collision, theft or an emergency breakdown.  Don’t forget to add this coverage!!!

How do I file a claim?

To file a claim, you must contact your auto insurance provider directly. Many companies provide online claims if you are not sure who that is, please contact our office for the proper information.

Why do I have more than one auto insurance company?

Because you’re popular. Well, that and because we often use more then one company to be sure you get the best rates. This is commonly known as “splitting coverage,” and it happens because many insurance companies write only certain coverage, or offer competitive quote rates for certain coverage. Auto Insurance best rates can be huge savings to you, use them wisely.

What kind of coverage should I carry?

In Illinois and Indiana, you are required by law to carry at least bodily injury, property damage and uninsured motorist coverage. If you’re financing a vehicle (and who isn’t?) your lender will also require comprehensive and collision coverage.  Other auto insurance coverage, such as medical, towing, rental reimbursement, etc., isn’t usually included. You should consult your agent and go over all your coverage and your options so that you fully understand your auto insurance policy.

Why should I purchase car insurance from an independent insurance agency like yours?

Unlike agents who represent insurance companies such as State Farm, Nationwide or Allstate, they offer only one company and price, we represents many fine insurance companies as an independent agent. It’s our job to shop and compare for you. And we’re good shoppers. We’re flexible and can handle almost any car insurance problem, giving you options to fit your budget. Get a free quote now!

What is an exclusion form?

An exclusion form says that one or more people in your household or the owner/co-signer of the car will not be driving your vehicle. Most likely the excluded person will be your spouse, if he/she is not a licensed driver but qualifies you for the discounted married rate.

What is a non-business form, and why do I need to sign it?

A non-business form simply states that you do not use your vehicle for any type of delivery, business, commercial, or artisan-type occupations; that it is not titled or leased to a business, corporation, or partnership; nor is it used to pick up or deliver goods. If you’re a business owner, self-employed, or a tradesperson you’ll be required to sign this form if you’re applying for a personal auto insurance policy.
